Who could this be? |
"Plaza de las tres culturas" is an area where one can see the three great cultures that represent today's Mexico.
The first culture is Tenochtitlan. The Mexica indians lived in this area before the Aztecas. Their "mercado de Tlatelolco" was huge and famous, it contained products from all over Mesoamerica. Check out some of the ruins.
The second one is the Spanish culture. This is represented by the church of Santiago. The Spaniards built their churches on top of the native temples, one more way in which they demonstrate their power.
And the third culture is the modern Mexico, represented by the "Torre de Tlatelolco" a 24 story building and by a series of apartment buildings.
The Centro de las Tres Culturas is also known around the world by the student's masacre committed by the Mexican gobernment on October 2, 1968.
